Sustainable Pipe Jacking Technology in the Urban Environment

The new, just published, book “Sustainable Pipe Jacking Technology in the Urban Environment—Recent Advances and Innovations” connects fundamental theories of the behavior of soils and rocks to the broad concept of trenchless technology, but with special emphasis on sustainable pipe jacking technologies in the urban environment. It is written in such a way that it complements standard textbooks covering basic principles of trenchless technology, soilmechanics, and geotechnical engineering. This book takes its readers a step further and immerses them in the world of pipe jacking and microtunneling operations and applications practiced in five countries, namely Australia, China, Italy, Malaysia, and Singapore based on all of the authors’ research and practical experiences in these countries. Altogether, there are ten detailed case studies found in the various chapters of this book to benefit readers on how impactful research outcomes are translated to geotechnical engineering practice. Among the Authors Marco Barla and Alessandra Insana. The PoliTo contribution also comes from the PhD work of Marco Camusso (2008).
