Geomechanical characteristion

The main activities in the field are:

  • the geotechnical characterisation of rocks and rock masses, in line with the international state of the art and with reference to the analysis of geologic, hydro-geologic, hydraulic and seismic risk, also with reference to the interaction between infrastructures and environment;
  • the performance of special geotechnical laboratory and in situ tests, with attention paid to the understanding of processes involved at different scale in slope instabilities, for which the necessary input data and geological, hydro-geological, geotechnical and seismic models are available or can be developed;
  • the development of numerical models for real time simulation, analysis and interpretation in GIS environment of slope instabilities, with attention on deep landslides, subject to traditional monitoring and measurement of significant geomathic, hydrogeological and geomechanical parameters.
